Every once in a while I wonder "why did it take so long to invent that"?

The new Dupont self-charging smoke detector is one of those items.

The unit plugs into any standard light socket (the bulb can stay in the socket) and charges the smoke alarm battery anytime to the light is turned on.

So here's my completely ripped off derivative inspired similar idea -- ceiling fan light kits with the same sort of unit tastefully built-in.
