KS Quote of the Day

The Kansas House almost voted in favor of overriding a governor's veto
on a bill that would regulate abortion clinics.

Rep. Judith Loganbill, D-Wichita is quoted in the
Lawrence Journal-Word
as saying she defended the veto because she is

"waiting for the bill that seeks to regulate all of the clinics"

In my continued efforts to get the slant you are taking on things, is this a "check out this stupid quote" or a "check out this useful statement" post? I liked her statement when I read it in the paper because I thought she was right on--I don't think she was calling for regulation of all the clinics, but rather pointing out the politics and idiocy of the current bill. Which perhaps was exactly your point--but I couldn't tell from the post.

Stupid, illogical, whatever. Sebelius is no record saying that standards should be set by medical professionals. She vetoes this narrowly-focused bill and Loganbill says "oooo, what about a more expansive bill? That's what I want."

It doesn't make any sense to me anyway I interpret it.

I so read it differently. Since she supported the veto I totally read it as a semi-sarcastic comment: "I am opposed to the political manuevering in this bill, which is obvious since it's only about abortion clinics. If this is an important issue, write a bill that looks at questions of standards in all clinics and then perhaps we could have a reasonable debate about whether there is a need for this." It never occurred to me that she might be calling for this bill to actually be written. I wonder which she meant?
